A Salute to Michigan’s Workers on Labor Day

Detroit Industry Mural Diego Rivera

A very happy Labor Day to everyone! Here’s a photo I originally shared eleven Labor Days ago. The struggle is every bit as real today as it was when Diego Rivera began painting the wall of the DIA’s Garden Court in 1932.

  1. I saw these murals as a child and was fascinated by them as my grandfather had worked in the Ford factory as a young man. I became an admirer of Rivera when I lived in Mexico City for a few years and visited the murals in the Palacio Nacional. I followed the links in your post and was delighted to see a video of Rivera paintng the DIA murals. Thank you!
