Jill & Kids photo by Allan L McFarlane
Hey everyone, today is my mother’s birthday & the first since we lost her to Alzheimer’s last month. My dad took this photo of my mom & my siblings & I on the hill across the road from our house. I’m the boy next to her & today I really miss her.
If you would like to donate to help end the scourge of Alzheimer’s, the Alzheimer’s Association is doing some good work.

May God bless you, your loving Mother, and your family. A wonderful family photo.

Precious memories of your mom with all of you!
This post also caught my eye because my daughter’s name is Jill and she is married to a member of your clan – just a slightly different spelling 🙂

Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease; you watch the ones you love slowly change into people you don’t know. My family is going through this with my Mother right now. It’s tough to go through, but it’s Mom; you do what you must.

A very memorable shot – one to treasure forever. I lost my mom in January 2010 and two weeks later was her birthday. It was tough as her birthday was on Valentine’s Day so you can’t escape the hoopla surrounding the holiday, making it even sadder for me.

That is rough. I envision that Christmas will be bittersweet forever for me, but I take comfort in the fact that she was released from a state she never ever wanted to be in.

Yes, it is very sad to watch someone you love whose body is healthy, but their mind is not – they are a prisoner within their body. I wish scientists would concentrate on finding a cure.

While I do wish research would move faster, one of the side effects of having a mom with Alzheimer’s is that I’m pretty up on the research & while a cure remains elusive, there’s a ton of smart people working on it!
