Super Moon Rising, photo by Kevin’s Stuff
Last year at this time we were heralding the Super Moon, the biggest full moon in 20 years. March’s full moon is officially full tomorrow morning at 9:39 AM, so tonight and tomorrow night are both full moon nights.
For the Chinese, this is the Dragon Moon and as this is the year of the Water Dragon, that might be an auspicious moon! In medieval times in England, March’s moon was the Chaste Moon, while for the Celts it was the Moon of Winds. Americans in colonial times knew it as the Lenten Moon and the Fish Moon most likely because it was known as the Catching Fish Moon by the Agonquin. The Agonquin were big for naming the moon and other names included Worm Moon, Sugar Moon, Crow Moon, Crust Moon & Sap Moon. In Michigan, it was known by the native peoples as the Snow Crust Moon.
See it on black and lots more in Kevin’s The Moon slideshow!

Wow, that moon is low! It looks like you could walk right up and touch it doesn’t it? Fantastic shot!!
