During college I worked as a maid at the Mercury. It was hard work, but the staff were nice people and the diner served a good cup of coffee. It’s demolition will be no great architectural loss though. The sign was probably the only distinctive feature of the place.

The Mercury Diner served the best rice pudding anywhere! I was really sorry it closed.
