Through the viewfinder: Detroit at night

Detroit at night, photo by caterpillars

I was linking to “TTV” photos on Michigan in Pictures and noticed that the photo that had been here was lost in the mists of the internets. Fortunately, that lets me feature one of my all time favorite (if fake) TTV shots. You can (and should) check out Laura’s fake TTV slideshow.

Some resources for TTV photography:

Hartwick Pines

Hartwick Pines

Hartwick Pines, photo by Robin of Loxley.

Robin writes: Grayling Michigan. As far as I know, the only stand of virgin white pine left in the state. I believe some are over 300 years old.

Seems like a great photo for an Earth Day in Michigan – enjoy your weekend and here’s a link to Hartwick Pines State Park.

A cove, photo by ReynaTerror.

This photo of Miners Castle in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was taken just about one day after the right turret fell into Lake Superior.

Compare this shot with this photo by Lars Jensen on March 7, 2006. You can read a bunch more about the collapse of the Miners Castle turret on Absolute Michigan.

A Pond in Bald Mountain

Frozen pond B&W by Mr. Physics

Mr. Physics writes: Went for a short hike at one of the Bald Mountain State recreation areas in Southeast Michigan. It was just above freezing, and very cloudy; but I found a few photo opportunities nonetheless.

Some very nice photos from Bald Mountain State Recreation Area including this one.
