DH Day Barn by James Eye View Photography
This holiday season I’m encouraging folks to consider Michigan photo calendars from many of the photographers I feature on Michigan in Pictures as the perfect gift to share your love of the Great Lakes State.
James has TWO calendars for the Michigan lover on your list, a 2026 Northern Michigan Calendar and a 2026 Michigan Birds Calendar! Click the links to purchase and for sure follow James Eye View Photography on Facebook for his latest!

Both of James’ calendars have beautiful photos. If I were the ducks bobbing around in close proximity to the Bald Eagle, I’d watch myself … unless they figure there is safety in numbers! I like the group of White Pelicans, a bird which I hope to see one day. I like the general calendar as well. Is the Monarch sitting on Virginia Mountain Mint? I was at Lake Erie Metropark in the Fall and they had planted some and there were butterflies everywhere perched on the flowers. This looks light it might be the same plant. Good luck with the calendars James.

I think it’s a lilac. At least it has a lilac shape. A little wild that they’re so cavalier but they probably can tell when an eagle is fishing

Okay, I wasn’t thinking of those beautiful lilacs in north country. The fish are so plentiful and the water is not frozen over, similar to the steam coming from the Monroe Power Plant, or the old steel plant in Ecorse, which steam allowed the ice to melt in Monroe and Ecorse near Mud Island. The eagles like to fish at both spots, perching right on the ice floes, like these chunks of ice provide a perfect perch. Fish is better than a duck dinner for the eagle. :)
