Blue Jays are such beautiful birds and Monika captured this one perfectly. The in-flight with the nut and the head tilt are my favorites.

The photographer remarked on the nuts – neither of us had seen that sort of chipmunk behavior! They are very smart for sure

I read that – she wondered if they cache nuts. I know they do in tree cavities, like Chickadees, but I’ve not seen it and I feed the birds at the park where I walk. The Blue Jays follow me from tree to tree as I make my rounds – I leave little piles of sunflower seeds, peanut chips and peanuts in the shell. They are very intelligent and in the Corvid family, same as Crows, who are also intelligent.
