was driving home from work yesterday. the sun was shining (it rarely does that anymore here). so i spotted this, which i drive past everday. it looked different to me. so i shot it. and of course, immediately started thinking of all the things in my life i value. there are LOTS. how ’bout you?

So … what do YOU value?

She also has a spiffy new web site (complete with a happy song).

  1. thanks for using this shot Andy! i value so much. i realize how fortunate i am to have my health and a job. i am also fortunate to have friends and family to be there for me, and to share life with—i really value that. i value nature so much also. and yes, i value food as well. :)

  2. Christmas eve 2007 I was cooking dinner for about 17 people while watching the news. One of the top stories was about a family in Detroit who lost their car due to a tree falling. As the reporter interviewed this family it became clear how down on their luck they were. They had no gifts for their 5 children (and the 6th on the way). Neither of the parents have a job and now they lost their car. I immediately went to work; I called the TV station and got in touch with the reporter. To make a long story short by 6PM that evening my mini van was FULL of gifts and food for this family. When I delivered the toys and stuff to these children it changed my life. They were SO GRATEFUL and polite. The look on these children’s faces was priceless. I will never forget that day. As I watched my own son open his gifts Christmas morning I knew I had made a difference in those children’s life. I can’t stop thinking: if I could pull all this off in a few hours while still cooking and cleaning for my Christmas Eve dinner party, just think what I could do with more time. My family and I are already planning on what we will do next Christmas. I now value the ability to help others; it’s better then receiving any gift.

  3. Great story Jennifer. When so many of the stories we hear are about how powerless we are in the face of things bigger than us, I really value stories like this that demonstrate how we can each make a difference.
