The picture is of Lake Margrethe in Grayling. There is a National Guard Base on the far shore, so a lot of Michiganians have been to the lake but haven’t had a chance to experience its year round beauty. I took this shot from my parents’ next door neighbor’s yard. The open water is Portage Creek, which is a small stream originally used by the Chippewa to portage from Lake Margrethe to the Manistee River.
